Working together to make technology and accessibility go hand in hand. At CodeSyntax, we’re proud of the journey we’ve shared over the past seven years with ONCE, Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles, which translates to the National Organization of the Spanish Blind. Together, we’ve been working to advance digital accessibility by developing cutting-edge solutions based on free and open-source software.

ONCE’s mission is clear and powerful: to promote the personal autonomy and full inclusion of people who are blind or have other disabilities, based on the principle of equal opportunity. In line with this purpose, we’ve developed several projects together, including the new website for the University School of Physiotherapy, the portal of the ONCE Foundation for Guide Dogs, and the Tiflological Museum website.

We’d like to highlight a few of these projects because of the significant value they provide in terms of digital accessibility and social visibility.

ONCE Foundation for Guide Dogs (FOPG)
FOPG’s mission is to make life easier for people with severe visual impairments by providing them with professionally trained guide dogs. These dogs not only assist in daily life, but also help foster independence and self-confidence. We worked on their new website, focusing on usability and accessibility, organizing and presenting information in a user-friendly way. Thanks to the use of Plone CMS, the platform offers relevant content in a clear and accessible format for all users.

University School of Physiotherapy
This school was founded by ONCE in 1964 to allow ONCE members to study physiotherapy. Today, it’s a respected academic institution that qualifies students to work as professional physiotherapists. The updated website presents information more clearly to both prospective students and professionals. Developed using Plone CMS, it ensures simple, intuitive, and accessible content management.

Tiflological Museum
This is a very special museum—a museum to see and touch. Interesting, right? You can visit the physical space in Madrid, or explore it online at https://museo.once.es. We collaborated on the development of the website, creating an accessible experience specifically tailored for users with visual impairments.

And many other projects...
Over the years, we’ve delivered a wide range of digital projects for ONCE using Plone and Python technologies: digital transformation initiatives, structured content design, multimedia interfaces, and usability testing. The goal is always the same: to create more accessible and inclusive digital tools, aligned with the values of free and open-source software.

By joining forces with ONCE, our technological contributions help build a fairer, more inclusive society. Accessibility is not optional—it’s the path forward. And we want to continue walking that path together.

Using open technologies such as Plone CMS and Django Framework, we design digital experiences that are accessible to everyone. Our core focus is building high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive tech solutions—always grounded in our belief in the power of free software.

This ongoing collaboration with ONCE shows that technology and accessibility don’t just coexist—they thrive together. When companies and organizations work side by side, they can build more inclusive environments for everyone.
