Python, the most popular programming language of the year

Oct 30, 2019
IEEE Spectrum has published its sixth annual list with the most popular programming languages of the year across multiple platforms, and, once again Python repeats in 2019 as the undisputed leader, as it will happen in 2017 and 2018.

Python is our favorite language. In fact, at CodeSyntax company it is the basis of our work on Plone, Zope, Django, Odoo, as well as in applications, products and developments for e-administration, industry or services.

Following IEEE Spectrum a "Python’s popularity is driven in no small part by the vast number of specialized libraries available for it, particularly in the domain of artificial intelligence, where the Keras library is a heavyweight among deep-learning developers: Keras provides an interface to the TensorFlow, CNTK, and Theano deep-learning frameworks and tool kits. Deep learning isn’t the only field where Python is having an impact that could not have been anticipated when the language was first released in 1991. The dramatic increase in computing power found in microcontrollers means that embedded versions of Python, such as CircuitPython and MicroPython, are becoming increasingly popular among makers."

IEEE ranking is one of the most serious and clear lists - methodology, metrics, interesting interactive application, ....- about the topic. Among the sources used to elaborate the IEEE Spectrum ranking are Google, GitHub, Hacker News, Reddit, Stack Overflow, Twitter, CareerBuilder and IEEE itself.

Eventually, as in Codesyntax, our house, Python is usually always at the top of the lists, either because it is the most used programming language, or the most loved, or the most recommended for beginners.
